So city 2
Ok this is going to have to be a quick one. Uncle mike and I are at peers having a coffee after our walk down around the bay, one hour of brisk walking with someone taller than me, heaven, even saw some shorebirds. However we started late due to a morning drama. But first a brief run down since I last wrote. There might be a bit of repetition as I don't want to waste this opportunity checking on what I last posted. There is a picture here from my first visit to Costco where I just had to photograph this food item, it was super healthy stuff and I suppose a small bite sized version of those oatmeal bars you can buy. Also there is a picture of the shelf with all of the different sizes of tortillas. Dinner on night one was at martinellis, tri tips and Brussels sprouts and the mandatory pasta, all yummy, dinner on the second night was back at martinellis, duck for me and mike and sausages for N&G and Linda. One more photo here is uncle mikes dads navy blues, which are teally beautiful and have his name embroidered inside.
I stayed at martinellis for the first two nights which was great fun. Linda and I had to share her bed the second night because uncle mike grumbled too much, but we both are non movers so it worked, except that you need a ladder to get up onto the bed.
Linda and I went to the computer shop in the morning to see what it would cost to upstage their system. About $750 all up would get them fully sorted so Linda and I are running a softly softly campaign.
Last night was election night and we stayed at noni and gramps. It was really stressful until around
7ish when it looked like it would be pretty tough for Romney as he had to win 6 of the outstanding critical states
The raw vote was neck and neck all the way to the end but Obama pulled ahead with the electoral vote and all of the stations declared him the winner, even fox, which was blatantly for Romney. but then Fox retracted that and said it was too early to declare. they stuck with this position until about 15 minutes before romney came out to give his concession speech. Gramps and I stayed up long enough to hear obamas victory speech and this was really wonderful, very classy, meaningful, strong. He got rid of all the things that he had to say, thank yous etc, in the first bit of the talk. Then he got stuck into where America needs to head and that the two parties had to get to the other side of the divided politics and work together because in the end everyone wants the same things and the country needs cooperation or it will not go forward. That is the gist but he said it so powerfully and never once criticised anyone for all the awful things they hav said or done. In the end white America voted for Romney and black Latino and young America voted for Obama and this put him over the line
So it was just great to be able to watch all this unfold with gramps, who just cannot get enough of politics.
Ok back to the morning drama, gramps took off very early to play golf and non and I were waiting on the front porch for uncle mike to come and get me for our walk. Non was still in her morning getup. I dashed back in to get my hat and when I walked out I pulled the door closed behind me. Not a good idea because then we were locked out, stuck on the little porch with no way into the house as all the latches on all the doors were still closed. It was a bad moment and it got words as then non had to go!
I got her around the back into the patio and then followed phone calls all round until mike arrived with the garage door key and then Greg arrived with a ladder and climbed up and went in through the toilet window, the only way into the house. There is a lot more detail to this story which I will not include in this blog, but in the end bono was yelling about gramps but sharing the gory details with the rescuer, Greg, at the same time. Unbelievable!!! As Linda said, she had a whole new wardrobe downstairs so no worries.
That is all for now.
